Chappie

Human kind has a new form of defense. Little robots that have bunny ears! To tell you the truth I wasn't expecting much from this movie when I first saw the trailer. But by the end I had laughed, yelled at the screen and cried.

Chappie is a movie about a robot that was put into the reject pile after being blow up. The creator of the robots is the one who saves Chappie. He wants to see if he can actually have a robot that has true concussions like a human. So he would have feelings and be able to make decisions about what he thought was right and wrong. But there are also others who want Chappie just because he's a police robot. A couple of drug dealers and heist guys are wanting to use him so that they can get away with things because the police are on their side. Little do they know that they're going to fall in love with little Chappie.

Apparently the movie was influenced by the band Die Antwood. And the band is actually main characters in the movie! Which I thought was pretty cool. Ninja and Yolandi are their names. They are actually a very interesting band. Based out of South Africa.
This movie is for sure not for young kids. It's quite violent and has strong language, but over all it was a wonderful and heart warming movie. I highly recommend it.

If I Stay

Be prepared to cry. WARNING! Take your tissues.

Last night I went to see this movie and I just couldn't stop crying or tearing up throughout the whole movie. The acting was superb. I felt like I was in the movie with them and feeling all of their pain. There were some parts that were a bit slow and that I wished I could have fast forward through, but you do have to have some build up to make other parts better I suppose. I myself had not read the book when I went to the movie, but now that I've seen it I want to read it. See what they really put into the movie and what was left behind in the book.
I haven't watched many movies with Chloe Grace Moretz (Mia) in them, but I have to say that she's really making a break through as an actress with this movie. She took every line she had and smacked it back in your face with so much emotion and power that it felt like you were in her place.
I don't remember watching Jamie Blackley (Adam) in anything before, and I have to say that I really didn't like him in this movie. I know he's character is meant to be somewhat standoffish, but it was like he couldn't embrace his role very well. I just couldn't grow to like him. The moment I liked him best was when he started to sing to Mia at the end.
I loved the parents. You could just tell how in love they were and how amazing they were. They were funny and sweet.
While watching this movie I was the only one in the theater so I fully balled.
The little boy who played Teddy did a wonderful job. Jakob Davies is such an adorable boy and he plays one very well. If you don't recognize him it's because he hasn't been in much yet. But he does play Pinocchio in Once Upon a Time. He's been in the show sense 2011
I would have to give this movie 4 stars for being able to make me cry so much. I would recommend this movie to anyone and everyone. If was beautifully done and the music was amazing. The actors were marvelous. I would for sure go and see this movie again.   The music was half the reason I cried so much. Cello can be so sad. I hope you all go to see it.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

Here it is, APES ON HORSES!!!!!!!!!!! Could it get any cooler? Dawn of the Planet of the Apes takes place roughly ten years after the events of the first "Rise of the Planet of the Apes". By now the Simian Flu has spread throughout the world and wiped out most of Humanity. This is the same virus that caused the apes to grow intelligently. We see the apes have made their home in a forest near San Francisco. Their culture is somewhat primitive but also slightly advanced and rich as it contains schools, a code of conduct, communication through minimal English signing, body language, and an environment of loving-family dynamics. The child apes attend school taught by Maurice who is brought back from "Rise". Caesar is more authoritative and cool as ever as the leader of the apes.
Props to the genius Andy Serkis, who masterfully plays Caesar, and the technology that lets him brilliantly act through motion capture. We see that Caesar has so much command over the tribe that he can silence every single one of them with just a hand gesture!
Watching the apes communicate with each other was very fun to watch. Director Matt Reeves' use of captions made it exciting to watch the apes go back and forth between English and sig
ning. Under Caesars command the apes are living peacefully with one another and it's almost heaven........until humans arrive for the first time in a very long time and ruin it all.
There is instant tension as Malcolm, played by Jason Clarke and Ellie, played by Kerri Russell, lead their team into the apes territory. The dynamic between Caesar and Malcolm (Clarke) is incredibly strong. They are similar in that they both are trying to protect their families, communities, and their destinies. Their relationship in this movie is something special. I love it when the set pieces and different action scenes actually make sense in the movie and aren't merely there for spectacle like any recent Michael Bay film. So you can understand my joy when I saw not only were Dawn's set pieces and action scenes beautiful but they totally made sense in the pacing and flow of this story!
While watching this movie in theaters, there were a few moments that were predictable but the overall plot was entirely unpredictable, highly entertaining, deep and intelligent.
In this movie Koba is brought back and more trouble than ever. His emotional scars have only gone deeper and his resentment towards humans is intense. His character in this movie is one of the most memorable and scene stealing characters in the whole series.
This movie has me on the edge of my seat wanting peace between the humans and the apes but knowing the whole time that something was about to go down! The tension is alive! The movie also looks amazing. The CGI used for the apes is unnoticeable because they look so real and life-like. When it showed a close up of an apes face I was sure it was a real ape brought on set. There is a TON of apes in Caesars tribe and weather they are interacting with each other, riding horses, or even shooting guns, I questioned whether some scenes did have real life apes in them.......but there was not a single real ape in the whole movie! The technology is merely marvelous and the cool action scenes are totally breathtaking!
To sum up, Dawn is intense, exciting, smart, and from the CGI to the set pieces; this movie looks and is incredible.
I would like the thank Grace for letting me nerd out on the blog a bit. As always, Stay Spicy!

Alright, time for translation. So, I had no idea what I was walking into when I went to see this movie. The trailer was awesome and the movie looked so cool. So I went. I personally loved this movie. It was funny, action packed and had a few surprises for those of us who didn't know the story very well (like me).
Chris Pratt did a wonderful job as Star-Lord. And do I have to mention that he was very pretty in this movie? I mean it's like having another Chris Hemsworth. Just minus the accent.
Zoe Saldana. Gamora. Every time I saw her in this movie all I could think was AVATAR. And STAR TREK. It was driving me nuts every time I felt like Neytiri had just gone most "green".
Dave Batista. Drax the Destroyer. This man is such a giant! Like for real that man would make Tom Hiddleston look small. He's 6'6......I haven't seen any of the other movies he's been in but, I loved him in this movie. He made me laugh and want to cry sometimes.
Groot. Did you know Groot was voiced by Vin Diesel? Cause I totally didn't. And I mean his role was SO HUGE that I don't know how I didn't realize it was Vin Diesel!
And then there's Rocket. The best raccoon in the world. I mean come on! Can't get better then a talking, gun shooting, and cute. If he was real, I'd get it for calling him that.
And as you all should know by now you are suppose to stay until the credits end sense it's Marvel. Sadly this time though, it's not really worth it. I won't tell you what's there in case you actually want to stay and see it but, I personally thought it wasn't that great.
Alrighty, I think I'm out of how much I liked this movie. I'm pretty excited for the next Avengers too. The next review is going to be done by my new co-writer Alex. He's going to be reviewing Dawn of the Planet of the Ape. Later fellow movie addicts!

Neighbors

So here we are again. It's been awhile. This time we have Neighbors.

I truly have no idea how I felt about this movie. It was funny, crude, awkward and down right odd. I watched this movie over a week ago and I just couldn't write my review because I had no idea how I felt about the movie. And I still really don't. Although, I am leaning towards not liking it that much. I have to admit that there are some very funny parts. But it was also very inappropriate. I personally will not watch it again. And it is rated R for good reason.
I am a fan of Zac Efron. I've watched nearly all the movies he has been in (I have not seen That Awkward Moment yet). But I have to say that this movie was a bit of a step down for him.
Overall I would not recommend this movie to anyone. I'm thankful that I only spent $3 to see it. If you for some reason have the extreme need to see this movie, I caution you. You will most likely leave somewhat disappointed. I do admit I laughed during the movie, but I wouldn't waste my time seeing it again.
Sorry Neighbors but, you didn't impress me.

How To Train Your Dragon 2

Welcome to another movie addicts review!

I went to see How To Train Your Dragon 2 this afternoon. And I've been waiting for this movie to come out when the first movie came out. I was so pumped for it. And thankfully, I wasn't let down. I totally loved it! There were a few overly cheesy lines, but otherwise it was the best!

I love how Hiccup and the others have gotten older and just how the story progressed so well. There was a twist I did not see coming, but I not going to spoil it for you all.

Toothless is adorable just like always. And Hiccup is also awkward just like always. But just like in the last movie they click together very very well.

This movie is one I personally will be watching again. It kept me on my toes the whole time and made me want to watch it again right after I finished it. I would recommend this to everyone all ages but, you'd have to be sure you watched the first one. Otherwise you really wouldn't understand what was going on. It plays off of the first one. It is by far the best movie I've seen so far this year.

Divergent

Well, here we are again. I know this came out a little while ago, but I personally just watched it a few days ago. I didn't read any of the books before hand. All I knew was what I saw in the trailer. Which kinda gave away a lot of the movie to tell the truth.
I went into the movie thinking that it was going to be a lot like Hunger Games. And I was somewhat right. They had differences yes, but they had the same story line. End of the world had already happened, blah blah blah. Smarty pants people think they can control what's left of the human race. Same old same old. I mean can't someone come up with something new other then the end of the world?! I mean just look at this

X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014)

   Snowpiercer (2013)

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013)

   The Hunger Games (2012)

   Oblivion (2013)

   Warm Bodies (2013)

   Cloud Atlas (2012)

   After Earth (2013)

   How I Live Now (2013)

   WALL·E (2008)

   City of Ember (2008)

   I Am Legend (2007)

   The Book of Eli (2010)

   The Colony (2013)

   World War Z (2013)

I mean do I even need to go on? Cause if I do, the list would be WAY to long.

There were some things that I didn't like about the movie. Like how the "Divergent" aren't even relevant until the last 30 minutes of the movie. And there was no massive plot twist! It was just kinda boring with no plot twist. I mean couldn't the bad guy have turned out to be Divergent in the end?! Cause that would've been awesome! (SPOILER!) And I didn't understand why when the main girl (Tris) gets a hand gun from her mother she never changes back to a big gun that'd actually be good for killing people! There were prop issues like a door was hung the wrong way. Cause the place you put the key in the lock to unlock the door was put on the inside of the door....it really bothered me.

Overall it was an okay movie, but I'm glad I didn't pay full price to see it.
